In the Alan Wake 2 The Lake, there are five computers that are password-protected. If you manage to unlock all of them, you’ll earn the Hard Work Trophy/Achievement and uncover some hidden information. Some computers will have puzzles that require you to find other notes and clues, while others will test your observational skills. Although there are only five locked computers, it’s easy to overlook a password or crucial detail, especially with the eerie threats lurking in the Lake House. In this article, you will find all the necessary information to find the password and unlock the computers.
Ground Floor, Dr. Jules Mormon’s Computer
The first computer you need to hack gives you hints on how to solve the puzzles. To keep their systems secure, the Lake House staff are supposed to come up with new six-digit codes every day. To make it easier to remember, they typically use the same four digits for the first part and only change the last two. They’re not supposed to use significant dates like birthdays or anniversaries, but it seems no one actually follows that rule.
To crack the code for Dr. Jules Mormon’s computer, start by looking around his office. Head to the corner on the right side of the door to find the date when he and his wife, Dr. Diana Mormont, began working as co-heads of research at the Lake House. This date will give you the first four digits.
The last two digits are on Jules’s desk. His daily calendar highlights that actress Hedy Lamarr was also an inventor and notes her age when she created frequency hopping. When you combine those numbers, you get the password: 071838.
Floor -2, Lockdown Room
When you first arrive at Sublevel 2, the floor will be locked down, with several Taken enemies trapped in various offices. To lift the lockdown and open the doors, you need to go to the far side of the floor. As you explore, you’ll come across a room with a computer terminal by a window and a body slumped next to it. You’ll find the Clearance Level 2 keycard on that body.
You’ll need to solve a puzzle to unlock this computer, and the information you need is spread across notes in this room and the next. Use your new keycard to open the nearby locked door. In the next room, you’ll discover that the password consists of a date and two extra numbers, similar to what you found in Jules’s office.
The code is the date of an anniversary for two employees, along with a couple of extra numbers related to one of Rudolph Lane’s paintings. To find the anniversary date, check the note that says it falls “a week from Friday” during the week of September 14, 2023. If you look at the calendar on the wall, you’ll see the date is September 22.
Another note mentions that the last two digits correspond to the “Brown Shape with Horns” painting, which you can find on a list of paintings near the computer. Combine everything, and your password is: 092225. With the Security Clearance Level 2 keycard, you can head back to Sublevel 1 to grab that cool gun Estevez mentioned when she saw it through the window; the Black Rock Launcher. You’ll also find another password-protected computer there.
Floor -1, Black Rock Launcher Room
There aren’t any notes in this room that give away the password, but you can find it by being observant. When you log in, look for a small sticky note on the side of the screen; it has the password written on it. Enter 021219 to unlock the computer.
Floor -2, Near the South Cell
On Sublevel 2, there are two large concrete cells. One of them contained Rudolph Lane, the painter Jules Mormont was studying to connect with the Threshold in Cauldron Lake; it’s the one with a big piece cut out. In the other cell, if you go around to the side, you’ll find Ed Booker, one of the two people Saga Anderson questioned about seeing Robert Nightingale the night he was killed at the start of Alan Wake 2. If you’re looking into Booker’s window, the computer is right behind you.
Similar to the computer in the Black Rock launcher room, there aren’t many hints for the password here, but you won’t need them. The user was quite lazy; they chose a simple and obvious password and even left it on a sticky note attached to the screen. Just enter 123456 to unlock it.
Floor -4, Dr. Diane Mormont’s Office
After you grab the Clearance Level 3 keycard, you can head down to the lower levels of the Lake House: Sublevel 4 and Sublevel 5. Sublevel 4 is where Diana Mormont’s office is located; pretty much as far away from her husband as possible, since his office is on the ground floor. Once you reach the center of the Archives, look at the desk on the left side of Diana’s glass office to find her computer.
Diana seems to have been too caught up in her rivalry with Jules to secure her computer properly, so you just need to be observant to find the password. It’s stuck to the side of the screen, though the numbers have been scratched out and altered a few times. Enter 685298 into the computer to unlock the last machine. This will give you more insight into Diana and Jules’s troubled relationship, and you’ll also earn the Hard Work Trophy/Achievement.
