You will have to tackle Mages while exploring Salt and Sacrifice, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. Here we will see what happens after abandoning a hunt in Salt and Sacrifice.

Mages are powerful beings who you have to fight to absorb their souls. You will be initiating Mage Hunts to try and take them down, but sometimes they can overpower you, causing you to die. In that case, you will get two options, to either continue the fight or abandon it entirely. If you choose to abandon, you will spawn back to the starting point, where you will have to start the battle from scratch. Several events will also take place after that, such as areas returning to normal and not having dangerous beings running after you. You will also be able to return to the area where you died and retrieve your salt.
If you find the Mage Hunt hard on you, abandoning it is the best choice, as you can level up and gain more experience to get strong enough to take them down later on. You can try to farm XP by defeating lower-level enemies around the area to get enough salt to level up. You can always come back to try the Mage hunt again anytime you wish.
