What are the Ominous Black Stakes in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and How to Use Them

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is finally here, with a lot of new game mechanics that the player can explore. Nintendo Switch players will be able to download the game and explore the lands of Paldea. In this guide, we will take you through the process of how to use Ominous Black Stakes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How Do Ominous Black Stakes Work?

As you explore the lands of Paldea, there are some interesting things that you will come across. You can find lots of items on the ground, which have a white glow to them, and these are usually items such as TMs or Poke Balls. However, there are some which have a colored glow to them, and they look like stakes.

There are four colors of stakes to be found, and they look quite ominous, but they actually serve a purpose. Each of them corresponds to a shrine that you can find in the game. As there are four colors, there are four shrines scattered across Paldea.

With the help of these black stakes, you will be able to open Legendary Shrines that are located in different areas on Paldea. You can find four Legendary Shrines in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and each shrine contains a Legendary Pokémon.

If you want to get all these Pokemon, you need to get the Ominous Black Stakes. Below, you will find the locations of all the shrines and the colors of their stakes.

There are eight Ominous Black Stakes around each shrine, which means that there are 32 in total. You will need to collect them all if you want the Legendary Pokemon. You can speak and befriend the history teacher Ms. Raifort and she will mark the locations on your map for you, but that is optional. Click on the locations above to know where all the stakes are, as we have guides for each of them.
