Numenoreans in The Rings of Power Explained
Numenoreans have finally appeared in the third episode of The Rings of Power. The Numenor island was never given importance in other series. Still, the history, culture, and other details of this location are all discussed in detail in J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Appendices. The introduction of the location in the last episode of The Rings of Power left the audience with an extreme curiosity to know more about Numenoreans.
The above map of Numenor shows that the place looks like a star. The author describes this place as a location where more god-like Valar lives than Middle-earth. This island was brought out of the sea by Valar and gifted to the suffering men after the War of Warth. Also, the Numenoreans are given tall height and extremely long life compared to other human beings. Everything was right until the Second Age began, and Numenoreans started to decline, and that is where The Rings of Power began. The Rings of Power tells the story of the island and the islanders from that time. As time progresses and Sauron’s power increases, the Nemenoreans help the Elves stand and rebel against Sauron.
Though it was one of the best human civilizations, and the people of the civilization had proved how far human achievements could go, Sauran almost single-handedly destroyed the entire civilization, even before anyone could realize what was going on. When the rebellion began, there were always some who went against the flow. The case was the same here. Some elves rebelled against Valar for not giving them Eternal life, and Sauron took advantage of this rebellion and became close to the king of Numenoreans. First, he convinced the king to worship Morgoth by sacrificing the White Tree, and next to sail to the west and destroy Valar to capture the Undying lands. Before the Numenor Civilization was destroyed, Elendil and some other faithful people sneaked out of the place with a seed of the White Tree.
That’s the story of Numenoreans. The series not only introduced the island but analyzed and explored the character of Elendil to a great extent.
