Tribes of Midgard is a great game and a delight for players who love survival games and fans of Valheim. Unlike Valheim, the graphics of the game is commendable, but some users are running into an issue with the game where the character is too zoomed in and it causes difficulty in the gameplay as they cannot see enemies attacking or do not have a clear view of the surrounding. As such, they are wondering how to zoom out Tribes of Midgard. Stick with the post and we will show you how.
How to Fix FOV or Zoom Out Game in Tribes of Midgard
One of the possible causes of the game being too zoomed in close to the character is the resolution of the game. So, before you proceed with the rest of the guide, ensure that you have set the in-game resolution to native. A lot of players tried to change the resolution, but that didn’t resolve the issue. So, here is how to fix the Tribes of Midgard gameplay too zoomed-in issue.
- Open File Explorer by searching in the Windows Search
- Go to View, next to File – Home – Share
- Click on Options
- Click on Change folder and search options
- Go to the View tab
- Toggle Show hidden files, folders, or drivers and Apply the changes
- Go to Users/name/AppData/Local/TOM/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/engine.ini
- Open the engine.ini file and add the below line to it.
[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
Second Solution: Using a Mod
If you can trust a mod from a third party, you can easily fix the Tribes of Midgard FOV issue. The Mod is available at pcgamingwiki. All you need to do is go to the link, click on the blue box with Download this file. Unpack the file with the password given on the page and follow the instructions to install the mod.
Make a new folder for the mod and place that folder within the game folder. After doing the above, launch the game and then the mod. When prompted use the same password pcgw.
If you have followed the above steps, F9 is for FOV Toggle, Black Bars, and Aspect Ration. F3 will decrease the FOV and F4 will increase the FOV.
With the above solutions, you should be able to fix the Tribes of Midgard FOV issue.
adding it to gameusersetings.ini didnt work for me but putting it in the engine.ini did.
Hi azurewolf,
Thanks for bringing it to our attention. It was supposed to be placed in engine.ini.
I see in step 8 you had the file name being engine.ini as this comment chain suggests it should be, but step 7 still shows the path including the incorrect file at the end. Just a heads up, might throw some people off 🙂
Thanks, we have made the change.
