Genshin Impact Version 3.0 is finally out and we have our first impressions of the new characters. You can test out Tighnari from the Character Trials and get your generous 20 Primogems from it. You can also pull him from the Character Event Banner which features him and Collei- both of whom are our first two new Dendro characters of the game.
Tighnari’s Amazing and Why
Tighnari is a 5-star bow Dendro unit and he’s actually a complete character without any such flaws to speak of. He’s a viable 5-star sub-dps with his E skill and elemental burst being his primary sources of damage.
In the character trials, he was equipped with the new 5-star event banner weapon- Hunter’s Path and the Wanderer’s Troupe artifact set. His teammates included Collei and Lisa for Dendro resonance and Quicken reactions which seems to be the way to go with his kit.
Since Tighnari scales partly off of EM (Elemental Mastery), the Dendro resonance is going to greatly boost his damage. This is also the reason he’s using the Wanderer’s Troupe set instead of the Deepwood Memories- which is the Dendro set Collei is equipped with. However, players must take note not to build him entirely on EM as other stats also come into play such as Crit bonuses and Atk%.
One of the reasons Tighnari’s great is because his burst has a phenomenally low cost of only 40 Energy. Coupled with his convenient E skill and a Dendro party member, you can expect a full 100% uptime on his burst. It’s also wise to use his burst after using his E skill as it gives him bonus EM which eventually increases the damage of his burst.
One of his best F2P weapons is the 3-star weapon Slingshot which gives him Crit Rate and boosts his charged attack damage through its passive. His best artifacts are going to be those with EM bonuses which means- Wanderer’s Troupe and Gilded Dreams are most likely his best-in-slot.
His best team comps are Quicken teams so you need at least one Electro party member to pair up with him. Be careful not to bring any Pyro or Cryo teammates either as they can mess with your Dendro reactions. He can even utilise Anemo and Hydro teammates due to their ability to spread the elements through Swirl and Bloom reactions. Hyperbloom, Aggravate and Spead are useful reactions for your team but you’ll have to be careful with your rotations.
As for whether you want to pull on Tighnari’s banner– that’s up to your needs and primogems. Collei and Dendro traveller are also looking like solid units so you can more than make up for Tighnari’s absence with them on your team. The only unique viability of Tighnari may instead lie in his exploration talent where he points the regional specialities of Sumeru on the map in the vicinity.
