Thoma is one of the 4-stars of the character banner in the first half of Patch 2.8 and as such many players will be pulling copies of him in their Heizou, Klee or Kazuha summons. While he may not be one of the meta characters and many players won’t use him often, he still fills a very useful niche as a Pyro shielder.
While Xinyan’s kit has been overall divided between physical damage and DEF scaling shield, Thoma on the other hand is reliable Pyro support and shielder. In this article, we’ll discuss his best artifact sets and how to build him as a reliable and useful shielder in your party.
Best Artifacts for Thoma in Genshin Impact
Our resident Inazuman fixer and the Kamisato’s best maid- Thoma is a reliable Pyro unit who has a refreshing shield that scales off of HP. Even though his Pyro attacks are based on ATK% and the usual Crit bonuses, his main viability is as a Pyro shielder who can periodically trigger reactions. His best artifacts are as follows:
Noblesse Oblige
This set is efficient if you want to get more damage on your Thoma’s burst. Additionally, the 4-piece set gives your whole party an attack boost so this is the perfect set for a versatile Thoma build who not only does more damage and works as a shielder but also buffs your entire team.
Tenacity of Millelith
The 2-piece set of Tenacity gives a 20% HP boost which greatly strengthens his shield. The 2-piece Tenacity is usually paired with other 2-pice sets. One could go for Crimson Witch of Flames for more Pyro damage or Gladiator’s for an 18% ATK boost. Ideally, Thoma requires Energy Recharge due to his burst costing him 80 energy so the best pairing is usually 2-piece Tenacity and 2-pc Emblem of Severed Fate.
Emblem of Severed Fate
The Emblem of Severed Fate is one of Thoma’s best artifacts since it not only gives him a flat 20% Energy Recharge which he desperately needs but also buffs his burst damage depending on the amount of ER he has. As a sub-DPS Thoma build, the 4-piece of Emblem is considered his best option.
The artifact stats you should be focusing on in all these are primarily Energy Recharge and HP% to buff your shield and reset your burst every rotation. Ideally, you’ll want about 23,000 HP and an energy recharge above 200%.
