According to a recent job listing on PlayStation Studios’ website, Sony might be venturing into multiple live service games shortly. Previously, live service games based on the Horizon and Last of Us franchises were rumored, but they never saw the light of day. However, according to recent news, the PlayStation community might be closer than ever to a massively multiplayer entry to these video game series.
More info on future live service games headed to the PlayStation 5
The developments on PlayStation’s upcoming live service game were spotted on the website’s careers page. The studio is looking for an experienced Brand Manager to “join the global brand marketing team” and develop and execute marketing and commercial strategy for its upcoming titles. Sony is reportedly developing multiple “high-profile AAA live service” games for the PS5.
The studios are also working on The Last of Us Part 1‘s factions multiplayer mode alongside live service titles. Although Naughty Dog and PlayStation are yet to release official info on this upcoming game mode, the job listing might hint at it getting close to launch.
Job listings mostly suggest that the games are in their early development stages. However, since Sony is already looking for marketing experts to execute the “marketing and commercial strategy” of the rumored games, they might already be in the advanced stages of the development cycle.
However, it is worth noting that these games will not be out for at least another couple of years. Sony PlayStation is yet to unveil any information on live service games and the company is nowhere close to a finished product, as of current developments. But it still might be a long wait.
Thus, PlayStation 5 gamers should be more excited about Spider-Man 2, Forspoken, and Final Fantasy XVI, which are all scheduled to release in 2023.
