Ahead of the Ryzen 7000 launch, motherboard manufacturer MSI has revealed their upcoming X670 motherboards. AMD is making two high-end chips for the upcoming Ryzen 7000 platform. These include the X670E chipset, which is mainly targeted toward extreme overclockers. Motherboards based on this chipset will be among the most premium products in the market. The other chipset is called X670. Most budget X-series motherboards will use this chipset. MSI has revealed designs on both of these platforms.
All of the upcoming MSI X670E motherboards will support PCIe Gen 5.0 through the PCIe x16 slot one M.2 slot. The X670 motherboards will support PCIe Gen 5,0 exclusively through the PCIe M.2 expansion slot. All of these motherboards will also rock DisplayPort 2.0 video output enabling resolutions up to 8K 60Hz.
The MEG Lineup
- MEG X670E GODLIKE
- MEG X670E ACE
MSI Enthusiast Gaming, or MEG, comes with some of the highest-tier motherboards the company has to offer. Two more motherboards are being introduced in this lineup with the upcoming Ryzen 7000 lineup. These include the MEG X670E GODLIKE and the MEG X670E ACE motherboards. Both of these motherboards are feature-packed and based on the E-ATX form factor. They also come with massive 24+2 VRM power phases, with each stage capable of handling up to 105A at peak performance. These upcoming motherboards will come with up to 4 onboard M.2 expansion slots including 1 M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot.
The MPG Lineup
- MPG X670E CARBON WIFI
The MSI Performance Gaming (MPG) lineup is known for mixing value and high-end features in a product. The only currently revealed in this lineup is the MPG X670E CARBON WIFI. We are still waiting for a GAMING PLUS entry. However, looking at pricing trends, we think MSI will opt for the less feature-rich X670 chipset.
The MPG X670E CARBON WIFI is however a very interesting choice. The motherboard comes with a fully-covered design and features 2 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots. It also has 4 M.2 slots, like the GODLIKE and ACE motherboards. However, 2 of these ports are PCIe 5.0 x4 and the other two are PCIe Gen 4.0 4. The motherboard comes with an 18+2 VRM power stage design with each stage capable of handling up to 90A of current.
The PRO Lineup
- PRO X670-P WIFI
The MSI PRO lineup is mostly targeted toward gamers and business executives. It features no RGB and comes without several features to fit a lower price point. The upcoming PRO X670-P WIFI is no exception. It will come with a 14+2 phase power stage design that is based on MSI’s Duet Rail Power System. In reality, it is a 7-phase design.
The PRO X670-P WIFI motherboard will also come with only one M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 port. It will however feature Wi-FI 6E out of the box. The upcoming PRO X60-P WIFI has been designed very elegantly to suit the black and gold theme of the company’s business-oriented products.
