MLB the Show 22 has new and improved features that you can try out in the game. In this guide, we will see what a guess pitch is and how to use it in MLB the Show 22.
MLB the Show 22: Guess Pitch Explained
While some features in MLB the Show 22 are new, most of them have been carried over from the previous MLB titles. Here we will see what guess pitch is and how to use it in MLB the Show 22.
What is Guess Pitch?
Guess pitch, as its name suggests, is to guess the next pitch that will come at you. If you are a hitter, you might need to do some guesswork in figuring out where the next pitch will be coming from. You will need the talent to spot the ball and work up your next move on the fly. For veteran players, this might be somewhat of an easy way to win the game, but if you are new to the franchise, then you can opt-out of doing a guess pitch if it deems too difficult for you.

Guess pitch works well with AI players rather than in multiplayer since AI players have a fixed gameplay type whereas players in co-op can be unpredictable. You can easily study any AI pitcher and how their throws will be. Even if you cannot guess the location of the ball, you can easily guess the pitch. Study the data that is available on-screen to use it to your advantage. You will soon find a pattern in the way that the pitcher moves, giving you an easy win if you can beat it.
Guess Pitch Modes
There are four modes of guess pitch that you can play. Each has its difficulties, penalties, and bonuses. You will also receive various types of feedback from each mode.
- Quadrant: Uses the batter’s box that is split up into four quadrants that enable you to guess the location and pitch style. Uses default penalties and bonuses.
- No Feedback: Similar to Quadrant, but does not offer any feedback. Has low penalties and high bonuses.
- Classic: If you guess the pitch correctly, it will mark the exact location on the field. High penalties and bonuses than the default.
- PCI: use your Pitch Coverage Indicator (PCI) to move the indicator around the field freely. This can be used even after a correct assumption.
How to Use a Guess Pitch
To use the guess pitch, hold down the RT/R2 button during the pitcher’s wind-up to bring up the pitcher catalog. You can now select the button on your controller that corresponds with each pitch to estimate your guess. To guess where the ball will be thrown, keep holding down RT/R2 and, using your left stick, hover over the six zones on the field. After selection, if it is correct, your controller will vibrate to give you feedback and highlight the picked zone in red. Now all that is left is to select the zone while swinging and make contact with the ball.
How to Disable/Enable Guess Pitch in MLB The Show 22
If this is too much to handle and you would rather play the game without guessing the next pitch, you can turn it off in the in-game settings. Under settings, go to Batting and Baserunning, and go to the advanced setting by pressing RT/R2. You will be taken to the Guess Pitch menu where you can change the mode or turn it off or on.
