Gaining entrance to Leyndell for the first time is quite hard, considering a Draconic Tree Sentinel is waiting for you. If you are having a hard time trying to beat it or just want to avoid the fight altogether, there is another way to get to the Capital. There is a portal at Deeproot Depths that will take you there, but it is quite a long journey if you have not yet covered that section. The easiest way to get here is by completing Fia’s questline. Towards the end of her quest, considering she hasn’t died at the hands of D’s brother, she will be waiting for you in a room called The Prince of Death’s Throne with her Champions. The chamber in question is in Deeproot Depths, and the portal you are looking for is in her battle chamber.
You will also have to complete Ranni’s questline and get the curse mark to give to Fia, where you will get an option to be held by her rather than kill her. Keeping her alive will keep the portal active. Also, burning down the Erdtree will permanently disable the portal, since now Leyndell will turn into the Ashen Capital, and probably burned the portal on their side as well. Another NPC you should talk to would be with Two Fingers at the Roundtable Hold. After that, you will gain access to the portal on the other side leading to East Capital Ramparts.
