Nvidia launched the Geforce RTX 3070 Ti back in the Summer of 2021 alongside the RTX 3080 Ti. Nvidia bumped the specs of the original RTX 3070 slightly with this refreshed video card. With this graphics card, GDDR6 memory was phased out and replaced with the faster GDDR6X memory standard found on RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards.
All of these improvements mean that the refreshed Ti card is approximately 10-15% faster than the original RTX 3070 in most games. However, is the card worth the price in August 2022? Let us find out.
Is the RTX 3070 Ti good for gaming?
The RTX 3070 Ti is one of the most capable graphics cards available today. Nvidia markets both the original RTX 3070 and the Ti variant as 1440p gaming cards. Both the cards are quite capable at this resolution. However, the RTX 3070 struggles in some games at 2160p. The RTX 3070 Ti improves 4K gaming performance by quite a margin. Although the RTX 3080 is designed for 4K. the 3070 Ti can pull off a decent experience at the resolution.
|CUDA core count||6,144|

|Video memory size||8 GB|
|Video memory type||GDDR6X|
|Bus width||256 bit|
|Base clock||1575 MHz|

On paper, the RTX 3070 Ti looks promising. However, instead of the $600 MSRP, the card is currently selling for $50 more, at $650. Thus, the card’s value proposition declines by a solid margin.
Looking at the competition, AMD’s RX 6800 cards are currently available at $599. This card comes with double the video memory and beefier specs as compared to Nvidia’s offering. In games, this card obliterates the 3070 Ti in every title by a solid margin.
Thus, we recommend gamers to consider the Radeon RX 6800 instead of the 3070 Ti while purchasing a video card for their system.
