Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game and as it is aptly mentioned in the genre, it consists of two parts-survival and horror. So essentially speaking, you are going to need to conquer both of those. And to conquer survival or at least acquire the skills to do so, you must have your guide book at hand. The horror aspect depends on how weak your heart is and how good your skills are at working under intense pressure and in scary atmospheres. Amongst the skills you need, many of these have to do with gathering resources, making things, and constructing things. This guide will assist you in using the Companions of the Forest Guide Book.
How to use the Guide Book in Sons of the Forest
In Sons of the Forest, the Guide Book is somewhat distinct from item combinations. Your inventory is where you combine items, which is the game’s equivalent of conventional manufacturing. If you combine two or more elements, you’ll create something completely different. Meanwhile, the Sons of the Forest Guide Book is mainly for structures and fittings. After leaving the location of the chopper accident, you’ll have access to it.
You’ll see an Emergency Package when you hit the “I” key to access your stockpile. When you open it, you’ll discover a tactical axe, a GPS tracker, and the actual guide book.
You’ll see two “modes” when you first access the Sons of the Forest Reference Book; you can switch between them by holding down the “X” key.
To summarise:
Build and Use/Attach – This focuses on laying out various items. After that, you’ll adhere to the proper procedures to use or connect something else.
Basic fire: Use your lighter to start a basic fire by laying out a few twigs evenly on the ground.
Standing Fire: Set a stick upright, drape some fabric around it, fasten it with another stick, and fire it with a lighter.
Build Outline – This option has more outline-based designs. You can click on the real item for these to see an outline. Additionally, the needed components will appear in the bottom left area of your screen.
Small Animal Trap: Click on the small animal trap to draw the location sketch. Then, hit the “E” key to begin accumulating up to 15 sticks. You’ll have a finished, completely operational snare when you’re done.
Planks are typically needed for other, more sophisticated structures like shelters, furniture, and platforms.
To put it succinctly, the guidebook is like the book of recipes in Minecraft. Once you know the stuff, you need to build you will find it easier to do so.
