Dinkum is a farming and life sim game from independent Australian developer James Bendon. You can farm crops, plant seeds, raise animals and create an island of your very own for a lot of villagers to live in. There are a lot of old and new elements alike in the game which make it invigorating and familiar at the same time. The island is surrounded by beaches, and there are plenty of things that you can collect here. In this guide, we will take you through the process of how to use shells in Dinkum.
Guide to Using Shells in Dinkum
You will probably have come across shells on the coast in Dinkum. However, instead of selling them to John for a few Dinks, you can begin hoarding them in the later game. Some of these shells have some pretty useful recipes associated with them which you might want to use.

There are seven types of shells available on the beach. These are the names of the shells, along with the selling price in case you still want to sell them. You can sell them to John at any point in the game.
- Buccinidae Shell – 10
- Cassidae Shell – 7
- Nautilus Shell – 20
- Sand Dollar – 10
- Scallop Shell – 5
- Syrinx Shell – 80
- Tonnidae Shell – 6
As you can see, they do not sell for a lot. However, if you want to use them in other ways, you can make fertilizer out of them in the Crafting Table. These are the items that you need in order to make 1 Fertilizer:
- 2 Roo Poo
- 1 Bone
- 1 Syrinx Shell
Once you have made the Fertilizer, you will be able to use them on your plants on the farm. With the help of Fertilizer, your crops will grow faster, so it’s a good idea to make it in bulk.
