Although fishing without a bait can still land you a fish or two, the bait greatly heightens the efficiency of fishing in Stardew Valley. You can save a lot of time fishing in the game with the help of a bait, but the bait has to be unlocked first. Even when you have unlocked the bait you may not know how to equip it. Stick around and in this guide we will show you how to unlock and equip bait on fishing rod in Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley: How to Unlock Bait
In order to unlock the first level of bait in Stardew Valley, you simply need to get the pole from Willy and fish until you reach Level 2 of fishing. Once you have unlocked the bait, you can get it from a variety of places such as you can get five pieces of bait for a single Bug Meat. You can also buy the bait from the Fish Shop and one piece costs 5g. Finally, if you run out of bug beat, you can beat Cave Files to get more of them and exchange for bait.
Besides the basic bait, there are two other types of bait – Magnet and Wild Bait, but they require higher level of Fishing.
For the Magnet bait, you need to be at Fishing Level 9 and the recipe is one Iron Bar. The bait doubles the probability of securing treasure while fishing. To get the Wild Bait in Stardew Valley, you need four hearts with Linus and the recipe is five Bug Meat, ten Fiber, and five Slime. The Wild Bait increases the efficiency of fishing and boosts the chance of catching two fish in one go.
Stardew Valley: How to Equip Bait
Bamboo Pole Willy is the default pole that players have and it does not have the capability to equip bait, so when the player attempts, they obviously can’t equip and it confuses them. In order to equip the bait, you need Fiberglass Rod. You can purchase the rod when you reach Fishing Level 2 and the price at the Fish Shop is 1,800g.
