Microsoft Edge comes pre-installed with Windows computers. The browser has been upgraded and modernized to suit the era we are in. It is based on Chromium, like Google Chrome and Opera, which further increases its appeal.
Edge has some interesting features that improve user experience. One such feature is Immersive Reader mode. This mode gives access to a Read Aloud mode which will narrate the web page for better accessibility and convenience.
How to use Immersive Reader mode in Microsoft Edge?
Turning Immersive Reader mode on in Microsoft Edge requires a supporting page. For example, the official Google website will not support Immersive Mode. However, if you log on to quoramarketing.com, the feature will be available. In short, the webpage needs to have enough readable content. Or else, users will only get access to the Read Aloud feature.
Step 1. Open a webpage with a sufficient readable content.
Step 2. Click on the address bar and then hit the Immersive Mode button from the menu. This will open the Immersive Mode menu up below the address bar.
Alternatively, users can also press F9 to pull up the Immersive Mode bar.
Step 3. The webpage will turn into a simplified reading mode that will allow users to easily read the content without distractions.
Use the available tools to improve the reading experience. The list includes the Read Aloud mode, Text Preferences, Grammar tools, and Reading Preferences.
The Text Preferences tool has a bunch of useful utilities that will allow users to customize the look of the webpage according to their preferences. The options range from altering font size, spacing, font face, column style, and even the background and theme of the page. It is a complete overhaul to the webpage viewing experience.
