The Dualsense controller is one of the best controllers to play video games on a gaming PC. The controller lasts quite a long time on a full charge. In theory, it lasts even longer on PC than on the PlayStation consoles because features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are turned off on the former.
While charging the controller on the PlayStation 5 console, it displays a three-bar animated logo that shows whether it has been fully charged. However, users on a gaming PC do not have access to this animation. Thus, checking how far your DualSense has charged can be an issue.
However, there are a couple of ways to check the battery percentage and charging status of your DualSense controller. Let us have a look at them.
How to check the battery percentage of a DualSense controller on a PC?
To check the battery percentage of a DualSense controller on a PC, there are two methods.
Use the Steam desktop client to check the battery status
When you connect the DualSense controller to your PC, the Steam desktop client will automatically detect it. You can start playing supported games right away.
As soon as you connect your DualSense controller, there should be a battery indicator on the top right-hand corner of the Steam client’s UI. However, if this icon is missing, follow these steps:
- Click on the gear icon from the Settings menu.
- Now, head over to the Controller Settings tab.
The battery status of the controller is displayed in this tab.
Use the DS4Windows software to check the battery status
Using the DS4Windows software is one of the most effective and easy ways to control the DualSense controller from your PC. This software displays the battery percentage of your controller under the battery heading.
These are the couple of ways in which you can check the battery status and whether it has fully charged from a gaming PC. The DualSense controller has surge protection in-built, so you need not worry if it is connected for a long time. The controller will never overcharge.
