Dinkum is a delightful Australian farming sim which is out on Steam on early release. This guide will take you through the process of how to kill a shark in Dinkum.
How to Get Flake from a Shark in Dinkum
Sharks are annoying creatures that bite at you while you’re just trying to swim across your islands, so you might want to get rid of them. Or, perhaps you have a request from an NPC to get some Flakes, which are dropped by Sharks. Whatever the case may be, you are heading in the right direction, which is to kill a Shark.

They might seem scary at first, but they are quite easy to kill once you know how they behave. You can kite a shark by hitting once and stepping back to avoid its bite attack entirely. In this way, you can bait the shark into biting when you’ve moved away, and never lose health. Of course, you will need some time to get good at it.
The first thing you need is a weapon. For this, you need to collect the Hunting Licence from Fletch by exchanging Permit Points. Now, with the weapon blueprints that you have received, you can craft any weapon of your choice. For example, if you want to craft the Basic Spear, you need 1x Gum Wood Plank and 1x Tin Bar. Do this on the crafting table and now you have your weapon.
Find and approach a shark with the spear equipped and make sure that you are not in the water. If you fall in, you might get hit by the shark’s teeth. Stay on land and hit the shark with your spear. It won’t be able to attack you if you’re not close to the water. However, at some point, the shark will begin to run away. You will need to step into the water to lure it back and finish it off.
The shark will drop Flake which you can cook for sustenance, or more Dinks.
