You can get the Intermediate Miner RIG Schematic during Chapter 7 – Into the Void. This is quite a later stage to get it, but once you do, you can unlock 26 inventory slots and receive 15% damage resistance. To get the level 4 schematic, you have to head over to the Mining Deck. You will receive an objective to find the SOS beacon.
After talking to Nicole on the other side of the deck, turn around to find a door with Standby written on it. Wait for it to unlock, then head inside the Equipment Workshop and go left, and then go down the ramp. You will find a collectible glowing on the table in front of you. Pick it up to get the Intermediate Miner RIG Schematic.
Take the Schematic to the shop and purchase the level 4 RIG. You should be aware that it will cost you 35000 credits, so you should keep that in mind before you turn in the schematic.
