Dinkum Fishing Guide
The game can be said to be as relaxing as Animal Crossing, and at times, as intense as Don’t Starve or Minecraft with its survival elements. However, players might be relieved to know that there is no permanent death in this game, and you do not lose all your items when you die or faint.

As you are transported to an island, there is water all around you, with lots of fish there. If you want to learn how to fish in the game, you will need to get a few items first.
The first thing you need is a Fishing Permit, which you can get from Fletch by using Permit Points. Once you have 250 Permit Points from exploring the map and foraging, you can buy the permit from the old lady.
Now you will need to buy the Fishing Rod from John for 1000 Dinks. If you need more cash, try using the first free bug net to catch some bugs, and sell them to John. Once you have your Fishing Rod, head over to a river where you might be able to spot a fish. Remember that you will be able to only catch the fish you see.
Equip your Fishing Rod and use the left mouse button to power up before casting the bait close to the fish. They will nibble at first, but eventually will bite. When they do, you have to reel in carefully—only when the fish are not struggling. If you reel in at the wrong time or stop reeling completely, you run the risk of losing your fish.
It takes quite a few tries to get this right, so don’t worry about messing up. The fish will be there when you want to cast again.
