I came across a post on Google that says you cannot change your region in Valorant. Well, that’s not true. Yes! You cannot, if you expect the game to provide a feature that will allow you to play the game from a different region than your original. Valorant currently does not allow users from different regions to compete together. You are matched with players in your region only. Read the guide to learn how to change your region in Valorant.
As the saying goes, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” To give you a hint, we will use a VPN to play the game from the region of your choosing.
As Valorant is only available in the US, Canada, Europe, and select other regions, this fix can also help you play Valorant if you belong to a region that yet does not have access to the Valorant beta.
If you do not have access to the beta and if you are planning on getting access to beta, this fix will save you a hassle. Because if you want to change the region using a VPN, you will have to again go through the painstaking task of getting access to the beta, all over again.
Riot has been transitioning all its players to use a common account to access it various games such as League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, and the current Valorant. Hence, your previous Riot account is already locked to your region and you cannot play the game from a different region using the same account. If you have noticed, the region selector option in the login screen is available no more.
This means that if you Riot account was created in North America, you cannot play the game with your European friends. However, as we said, we will teach you how to change your region in Valorant and play with friends.
First thing first, let’s create a new Riot account using a VPN. We have created a post that lists the top free VPNs in the marketing so you don’t have to spend a dime in this process.
Using VPN Create a New Riot Account
After you have downloaded the free VPN of your choice, install and launch the program. Choose the country or region where you want to play Valorant. Once you have done all that, click the link to create a new Riot account.
Once you have created the account, you can use this account to play the game with your mates in the region you selected on the VPN. However, you will again have to obtain access to beta and go through the arduous task of streaming videos.
Alternative Way to Change the Region
If the above method does not appeal to you, you can always get in touch with the developers and present your case. Who knows they may change your region. But given the early stages of the game, a no can be expected as well. Here is the link you can use to raise the ticket to the developers.
