Back in the day when games came in DVDs, sharing them with your friends was as easy as handing over the DVD and your friend could enjoy the game. You could also exchange games and everyone had their turn at playing a game without having to buy multiple copies, but that was the past. Things have changed quite a bit. Today, you have to License transfer the titles to your friends. In this guide, we will show you how to license transfer or gameshare your titles with others.
How to Gameshare from PS4 to PS4
The process is really simple and you don’t need much other than access to a friend’s PS4 and your account log-in info. Once you succeed in replicating the process we are about to show, you will merge your game library on your friend’s console and your friend can access the game titles on your console. So, here goes the process.
- The first step, start the console of your friend and log-in with your PlayStation account
- From the main menu, select Settings
- Click on Account Management
- Now, select Activate as Your Primary PS4
- Click on Activate
If you want to play the games your friend has, the process is the same. Only, your friend needs to share their PlayStation account info so you can log-in as your friend on your console.
This way you can play the games on the PS4 of one another.
Certain Things to Keep in Mind
If you ever upgrade your PS4 account such as you opt for PS4 Pro account, you will have to go through the process all over again. You will also have to deactivate the account from your friend’s PS4 so you can set up your console. The process to deactivate is similar with just one difference instead of selecting Activate, you will have to select Deactivate.
Now, when it comes to sharing your PS4 account, we recommend that you make the decision wisely. Once you have setup the PS4 with the upgraded account, you can follow the process again to gameshare with family and friends. This is the only way you can license transfer your titles on PS4 to your friends.
In case you are faced with a situation when you want to deactivate your PS4 account on your friends console, you can do it via PlayStation account management tool using any browser. However, there is a catch – you can do this only once in 6 months.
Another thing to remember, although you can share your account with any number of people, you can only play the same game with one other friend on a different console. If more than 2 people use the same account to play the game simultaneously, your account will be flagged and banned. So, it’s best not to share your account with more than one friend.
