In the last few years, Google has made several updates and made the app more useful by including weather reports, news, and stock market information, but every once in a while an update can go wrong and cause issues for certain groups of users. The current battery drain problem starts with the latest update of the Google app that was released in September 2021.
The previous versions of the Google app also caused troubles to the users, like last time the updated version of the app ruined the call function for LG users. This latest update is also creating problems for users all over the world.
Users are complaining that this updated version is draining excessive battery and also the phone becomes over-heated. Some users say that the auto-update cannot be stopped. Even if they uninstall the updates and clear all the data, the update resumes and has them on the latest version, which is bugged.
Battery draining and over-heating the phone are the two significant complaints the users made, and some of them rated One Star to show their dissatisfaction. According to some users, the Google app drains a tremendous amount of battery and causes their phone to be charged 3 or 4 times a day, even if they don’t use their phones that much. Some users also complained that it is draining out their data as well. Though they use Wi-Fi connections for their works, their data pack is drained out.
Users tried a lot to uninstall the updates and clear the data, but they failed. Therefore the only way to stop the app from draining the data is to disable it entirely.
The good news is that Google is aware of the whole battery drain and overheating problem, and they will fix it soon. But we do not have an ETA on the patch. Until they release a fix, you can disable the Google app and use Google Go for now. Google Go is not as good as the Google app, but temporarily, you can use the Go app until Google fixes these problems.
