Valorant like all online games has a bunch of errors that users encounter. The recent surfacing error is the Valorant error connecting to the platform. Players can get one of two error code that accompany the error message, the error code 7 or 59. The error 59 is a new error and did not appear in the beta. The full message of the error reads “Error Code – There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client.”
As suggested by the developers, the first fix you must attempt is to restart the game client. It’s better if you restart the system and resume the play. Under normal circumstance, this will fix the error and you should be able to play the game. But, a lot of users report restarting to be ineffective. What Causes Valorant Error Connecting to Platform Error Code 59 or 7
Since this is a connection error, if the problem occurs after a recent update the culprit could be the servers. But, it can easily be your system or network that causing the problem. General network congestion, ISP situation, bandwidth-intensive tasks, Wi-Fi connection, or a hardware problem could be the cause of the disconnect from the server. To fix the Valorant error connecting to the platform, you must first check the servers are working normally and others in your region are not encountering the same error. The next step is to troubleshoot your internet connection.
Sometimes the firewall on your system could also be blocking the operation of the game and hence you get the error code 59 or 7 “There was an error connecting to the platform.”
Here are all the possible solutions you can try to fix the Valorant error codes.
Fix 1: Check the Servers and Use a VPN
The first fix or rather troubleshooting you must perform is if your friend or others in the same region are experiencing a similar problem with the game. Open the riot website and log in with your credentials, check the region at https://account.riotgames.com/account. If it’s set to China or any other region then yours, then the error can arise. To change your region, click on Support, select Valorant and click on CHANGE MY REGION OF RESIDENCE. Follow the instructions on the website to change your region.
Fix 3: Set Exception on Windows Firewall or Antivirus Programs
Sometimes the Firewall on your system or antivirus software might be blocking the game from establishing connection with the server. Therefore, set an exception on the respective program.

Fix 4: Reinstall Vanguard
If there is a problem with Vanguard, the anti-cheat software from Riot Games, it could also lead to Valorant error 7 or 59 “There was an error connecting to the platform.” So, try reinstalling Vanguard. To perform the process, first you have to uninstall Vanguard like any other program. Once uninstalled, launch the game and Vanguard will download automatically.
Fix 5: Contact the Internet Service Provider
As this is a connectivity problem, sometimes the service provider may be experiencing problems establishing connection to the Valorant servers. As such, you should contact the ISP and request them to troubleshoot the problem on their end.
