How to Fix Groundpounder Bug in Starfield

The “Groundpounder” bug in Starfield is an issue where players experience a softlock when attempting to land on a planet. This frustrating problem can hinder the progression of the game’s storyline, leaving players stranded and unable to continue their adventure. While Bethesda has not officially acknowledged this bug, the gaming community has come up with some potential workarounds.

Return to Your Ship and Re-Land

  • Some players recommend returning to their ship and attempting to land again after encountering the Groundpounder bug. While this may seem counterintuitive, it has worked for some players. Upon reloading, try flying to Altair and follow the natural progression of the mission.
  • Once you arrive at New Atlantis, access your missions and select the “Altair 1 orbit killing” part. It may instruct you to fast travel back to New Atlantis. After reloading at New Atlantis, you’ll notice ships landing nearby with blue markers above them.
  • Wait for one of these ships to take off, and immediately enter your ship and go into orbit. You’ll find the remaining ships to kill, but you’ll be in Jamison’s orbit instead. This workaround may seem unconventional, but it has proven effective for some players.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Bethesda regarding the Groundpounder bug. This lack of communication can be frustrating for players who are eager for a fix or a patch. However, Bethesda is likely aware of the issue and working on a solution.
