Before Scavengers releases fully, the game is available for players on a closed beta. You can be a part of the beat by obtaining the Twitch drop. But as expected from a multiplayer title, there are issues with Scavengers. Most players are unable to get the code even though they got the email. Players who got to play the game are reporting Scavengers crashing, stuttering, and blurriness.
While there is no fix for players not getting the code, you can try some things to fix the crashing, stuttering, and a blurry Scavengers. In this post, we will share all the solutions.
How to Fix Scavengers Crashing, Stuttering, and Blurriness
No game is fun with stuttering and crashing interrupting the game. While the current problems are irritating, it’s understandable the game is in early access and the developers would want to hammer out any issues with the game when it finally releases.
But, that’s not to say you should continue playing the game with Scavengers crashing, stuttering, and blurriness. There are certain system tweaks that can allow you to play the game minimizing the issues.
Update the Graphics Card Drivers
One of the first solutions you should try is updating the graphics card drivers as it’s often the main culprit behind games crashing and stuttering. New driver updates are released to cater to the new requirements of games. Both NVIDIA and AMD regularly release driver updates. When installing the update, choose to perform a clean install.
Run the Launcher with Admin Permission
For the game crashing, one of the reasons could be the lack of permission. Provide admin permission to the game and the crash should not occur. If you are on Steam, right-click on the game and select Properties > Local Files > Browse. Locate the scavengers_launcher and right-click > Properties > Compatibility tab > check Run this program as an administrator.
Start the Game in a Clean Boot Environment
When you have too many applications running in the background, it can consume the resources of your PC leading to performance problems like the Scavengers crashing and stuttering. Also, there may be third-party program that may be conflicting with the game process, which can also cause the game to crash. We suggest you launch the game in a clean boot environment. Here are the steps to follow.
- Press Windows Key + R and type msconfig, hit Enter
- Go to the Services tab
- Check Hide all Microsoft services
- Now, click Disable all
- Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager
- Disable one task at a time and restart the system.
Now, launch the game and the crash and stutter should improve.
Experiment with Fullscreen and Windowed
Running Scavengers on fullscreen reduces the stutter, but it can sometimes cause the game to crash. So, if your problem with the game is stuttering, we suggest that you play on Fullscreen. However, if the problem is crashing, we suggest that you play in Windowed mode.
Lower the Game Settings
It goes without saying, if you are facing performance issues and you are on a mid-range PC, the problem could be the system not supplying necessary resources to the game for the current settings. As such, you must play the game on the lowest settings and then, increase while monitoring the performance. Even users with high-end PC should try playing the game on Medium settings to see if it improves the situation. Failing that, we suggest that you lower the resolution of the game for the same reason.
Change Graphics Settings
If your issue is with Scavengers blurriness and stutter, editing certain game settings can help the situation. However, before you try the solution, you should know that the Main Menu of the game can become dark, but it will help with the blurriness in the game. Here is what you need to do.
- Go to C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Scavenger\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.cfg
- Locate files sg.AntiAliasingQuality and sg.PostProcessQuality
- Set them to sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0 and sg.PostProcessQuality=0
- Save the files as Read Only.
That’s all we have in this guide, we hope the above solutions have helped fix Scavengers crashing, stuttering, and blurriness. We will update the post when we know more about the issue. Meanwhile, if you have a better solution share them in the comments.
