Resident Evil village has finally released. It’s one of the biggest games of the year and while the game was mostly bug free, there are some errors that users encounter. And those are Resident Evil Village WMVideo Decoder Error, D3D12CreateDevice Failed, and Failed to Load library steam_api64.dll. Most of these errors are easy to resolve once you know how. If you have encountered any of the above errors, here is what you need to do.
Fix Resident Evil Village WMVideo Decoder Error
The Resident Evil Village WMVideo Decoder error has got an easy fix. This error occurs when you start the game and it won’t allow you to proceed, meaning you are basically locked out of the game due to the error. It needs to be fixed for you to play RE8.
One of the solutions that have worked for a lot of users is installing third-party software known as the K-Lite Codec Pack. Download and install the software by following the link. This is the software required for Video Playback and CAPCOM titles are known to require this software.
Sometimes, to fix the error you don’t need to do anything. When it occurs, wait and the game will auto download the required software and play. Either way, download the software and the WMVideo Decoder error should be fixed.
Fix Resident Evil Village D3D12CreateDevice Failed
If you do not have the Oct 2020 Windows update on your PC, it’s going to cause a range of issues such as the Resident Evil Village D3D12CreateDevice Failed error and if you have RTX card, the ray tracing option may be greyed out. As such, the fix for the issue is to own a card with DirectX 12 support, update the Windows to the latest version, and finally, update the GPU driver to the least Game Ready Driver for NVIDIA GPU.
With these fixes, you should easily be able to fix the Resident Evil Village D3D12CreateDevice Failed error.
Fix Resident Evil Village Failed to Load library steam_api64.dll
Like the above two errors with the game, the Resident Evil Village “Failed to Load library steam_api64.dll” or “Unable to load steam_api64.dll” is also an easy one to fix. It occurs when the Steam client does not have the necessary permissions to write on the hard drive. Providing the Steam client with the admin permission should effectively fix the error. If that does not work, provide admin permission to the game as well. To provide the permissions, locate the .exe of the game and Steam and provide the permissions.
If the game still does not work, download the steam_api64.dll file from a reliable source and place it in the Steam folder on your system.
Be careful when downloading the file.
i tried to use the k lite thing but it wouldnt work could i get a link to what you guy’s used?
Post updated.
Ok so I have never had a problem with any game on my pc or from the codex site and my gpu is the rtx 2080 ot does support DX12 and thats installed but if I use the regular game its a torrent someone else it says instead of play in steam to ask to borrow it from the owner or purchase. If I use the crack to play it so it bypasses steam or what not it gives me another error not listed which is gpu does not support DX12 can you please help me everything is updated drivers gpu and display directx 12 and windows nothing is working thanks alot
If I understand you right, you are using a pirated copy of the game. In that case, the problem could be with the game. If not a pirated copy, try running Verify Integrity of Game files from the Steam client.
