We are still a week away from the complete release of Resident Evil Village or RE8. However, eager fans can indulge in the time-limited demo of the game starting today. Earlier, the window to play the game was limited to 24 hours, but CAPCOM has extended that to a week, a day past the release of the game. However, given the popularity of the series, server issues are expected and players are already reporting the Resident Evil Village “Unable to connect to the server” Error. We ourselves attempted to launch the game today on 2nd May and met with the same error message. There are several causes you could be seeing the error, here is what you need to know.
How to Fix Resident Evil Village “Unable to connect to the server” Error
When you get the Resident Evil Village “Unable to connect to the server” error, the only option you have is to restart, which is what you should do. The complete error message reads, “Unable to connect to the server. Please wait and try again.” Sometimes, doing what’s indicated in the error message is what would fix the error. As the servers may be overburden at the time, you should try to launch the game at a later time when there is less load.
So, when you see the error, the first thing you should do is hit on Restart. Failing that, attempt to play the game in a few hours.
Whenever hit with a server error, there are usually two broad causes – a problem with the server or the client internet connection. More often than not, the servers are the culprit. As such, you need to verify the status of the servers. One of the best places to do it is the official Twitter handle of the game. Right now, there isn’t any other more reliable source to find out about any possible server issues.
If it’s a problem with the users internet that could also result in the error. Here are a few things you can try.
- Reboot the console or the PC and the network hardware such as modem or routers.
- Check that your internet connection speed is stable. Play another online game.
- For PlayStation users, run a network test before launching the game.
- Ensure that the date and time are correctly set on your device.
- Change the DNS to Google.
If the Resident Evil Village “Unable to connect to the server” error still occurs after trying the above solutions, the issue is with the servers and there is nothing you can do other than waiting for CAPCOM to fix it or the demand to subside.
Once again Capcom pushes customers to piracy with their archaic licensing checks.
The game demo isn’t playable until 5PM EST today. You can download it now to have it ready for when it goes live. Capcom isn’t doing anything wrong. You’re looking for a reason to pirate a game based on a demo LOL. I never had an issue with playing a Resident Evil game across multiple platforms.
