Metroid Dread has been a massive hit both critically and with fans. The game has very few bugs and errors that we can complain about, but near the end of the game, you may run into the Metroid Dread “The Software Was Closed Because an Error Occurred” error. And there is also the Metroid Dread stutter and low frame rate. While we do not have any confirmation about the frame rate issue with the game, Nintendo of America has acknowledged on Twitter the error with an ETA on the fix set to release at the end of Oct.
The devs have also identified a specific sequence that leads to the error. If you manage to avoid the sequence, you can successfully avoid the bug in the game. Keep reading to fix the “The Software Was Closed Because an Error Occurred” error in Metroid Dread and how to avoid it.
Metroid Dread “The Software Was Closed Because an Error Occurred” Error Fix
The Metroid Dread “The Software Was Closed Because an Error Occurred” error occurs in a specific circumstance when the player near the end of the game destroys the door “while a map marker for that specific door is displayed on the map,” it will trigger the bug.
If you have encountered the bug and the game has crashed, the fix is to restart the game. Once you have rebooted the game, avoid the bug by removing the door icon map marker. After removing the map marker for the door, you can go ahead and destroy the door, the bug won’t appear.
It’s important to note that the error message is not specific to this game. You can see it with any other games or at any other point in time when playing Metroid Dread. If the soon-to-come patch does not fix the error, it may be a problem on your end. But, for a majority of players, the patch should fix the issue.
Keep a watch for an update at the end of Oct that will fix the Metroid Dread “The Software Was Closed Because an Error Occurred” error for good.
