Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, an iconic PS4 title that initially came out for the PS4 back in 2018 has finally made its way to PC. On the PC, the game comes out with unlocked FPS, RTX, and DLSS. The game truly looks amazing on PC, but like all games, some users can run into Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Crashing on Startup, Game Not Starting, or Launching issues. If you have a similar issue, we have got some things you can try. This guide is a work-in-progress, we will update it frequently after the launch of the game so do return to the guide if your game does not work even after trying the fixes.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Crashing on Startup, Game Not Starting, or Launching Fix
Before you try any of the solutions, ensure that you meet the minimum requirements to play the game. While the game is not that taxing if you don’t meet the specifications, it can lead to the Spider5-Man Remastered crashing issues.
Update the GPU Driver
NVIDIA has a new GPU driver available, ensure that you download the latest version of the driver. Use the GeForce Experience to download and update the driver. AMD users can do the same. A lot of games crash when the GPU driver is not updated. So, that’s the first fix you must apply if you haven’t already updated the driver.
Also, when performing the install, choose a custom install and not express. Later, choose a clean install. It will remove the previous driver and install the new one.
Enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
The main task that the Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling performs is that it does not strain the CPU and assigns some important tasks to the GPU, which in turn has proven to reduce the crash in a lot of games. So, if Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is crashing or stuck on the loading screen, enabling HAGS on your Windows PC can help. Here is how to perform the fix and an additional step you can take.
Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
- Press Windows + I and click on System
- From the Display tab, click on the Graphics settings link
- Toggle on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
While you are there also add the Spider-Man Remastered executable for Graphics performance preference. Click on the Browse icon as shown in the above image and add the executable. When added, click on Options and choose High performance. Save the settings.
Download and Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
You can follow this link which leads to the official website, go there and download the Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022. Download the combined package that contains all versions of the software. When installing we suggest that you install both the X86 and X64 versions.
Disable V-Sync and Run Game in Fullscreen
The Display Mode and V-Sync work in mysterious ways. Sometimes enabling them helps reduce crashes while other times, it can lead to crashes. So, whichever settings you have enabled, try changing it to the others. If the Display Mode is set to Borderless, set it to Fullscreen. If the V-Sync is turned on, disable it and vice versa. And that may fix the Spider-Man Remastered crashing issue on PC.
Verify Integrity of Game to Fix Spider-Man Remastered Crashing
Verifying the integrity of game files is one of the quick and easy solutions you can try to fix the crashing issue in Spider-Man Remastered. To perform the fix open Steam > go to Library > Right-click on Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered > Select Properties > Local Files > and select “Verify integrity of game files” and the system will scan and fix it automatically.
Increase the Virtual Memory
When you are playing games that demand a lot of resources, there is always a chance that your system may not provide the required horsepower and the game can crash. Increasing the virtual memory servers as a safety net when the physical memory runs out. Here is how you can perform the fix.
- Bring up the Windows Search by pressing the Windows Key
- Search for Advanced System Settings (Alternatively, you can also right-click on This PC > Properties and find the Advanced System Settings on the right-hand side)
- Click on Advanced System Settings and click Settings under Performance in the new Window that opens.
- Go to the Advanced tab in the new Window and click Change under Virtual memory
- Uncheck Automatically manage paging size for all drives
- Check Custom Size
- You need to set the initial and max size.
- If your RAM is 8 GB, the Initial Size will be 8 x 1024 x 1.5 = 12288 MB. Similarly, the Maximum Size will be 8 x 1024 x 3 = 24576 MB.
- If your RAM is 16 GB, 16 x 1024 x 1.5 = 24576 MB, and the Maximum size should be 16 x 1024 x 3 = 49152 MB
- Next, click Set to apply settings and Ok to Save.
Restart the computer and check if the Spider-Man Remastered still crashes or gets stuck on the loading screen.
Do Not Overclock and Disable RGB Software
Overclock in itself is harmless, but often the GPU becomes unstable due to overclocking or the software such as MSI Afterburner and others may conflict with the game leading to crashes or the Spider-Man Remastered crashing on startup. You may also have to reset the XMP memory profile to default to fix the crash. If you have any RGB software running in the background, disable those as well.
