Hyper Scape is the new Battle Royale from Ubisoft. Much like Valorant, the game has characters and abilities called Hacks that provide the players with unique skills. Although the game is amazing, recent players who jumped into the game through the technical beta pass are reporting a range of bugs. The most recent is the “No compatible driver/ hardware found” VK_Error_Initialization_Failed. As indicated in the error message, the error occurs when there is a problem with your graphics card driver and the Vulkan Graphics API fails to load. The most effective fix for this problem is to update or reinstall the GPU driver.
We have another post that talks about a similar error in the game “Vulkan-1.dll was not found“, so if the fixes in this post fail to resolve your error, you can try the solutions on that post as well.
Fix 1: Ensure Graphics Card Meets Minimum Requirements
Before you proceed with the other fixes, you must ensure that your graphics card meets the minimum specification. The minimum specification for graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2 GB), AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2 GB) or Intel HD 520 and the recommended specifications is NVIDIA GTX 970 (4 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 480 (4 GB). If your system meets the requirements and you still encounter the Hyper Scape VK Error Initialization Failed, try the next fix.
Fix 2: Update the Graphics Card
Updating the GPU driver is the most effective fix that has worked for about 70% of users to resolve the error. So, that’s the first fix you must attempt. For Nvidia users, you can go to GeForce Experience and update the driver from there. AMD users can do the same.
Now try playing the game, if the error still occurs, you must perform a clean install. For AMD users, uninstall the current driver and download a fresh copy from the official website. Install it and try playing the game. Nvidia users have a much easier option. You simply need to download the latest copy and run the installation wizard > choose custom and then select clean install.
Launch Hyper Scape and the “No compatible driver/hardware found” error should be resolved.
Fix 3: Disable Integrated Graphics Card (Laptop Users)
Users who play the game on laptops or have a secondary GPU installed may fix the problem by disabling the integrated (less powerful) GPU. The game may be using the integrated GPU which is less powerful and does not support most games. In this case the error can arise, you simply need to disable the GPU to play the game. Press Window Key + X > Device Manager > Expand Display Adapters. If you see two graphics cards installed disable the Intel graphics card by right-clicking and selecting Disable device. Launch the game and check if the Hyper Scape VK Error Initialization Failed “No compatible driver/ hardware found” still occurs. If the problem persists, enable the Intel Graphics Card and try the next fix.
Fix 4: Change Preferred Graphics Processor
Set the preferred graphics processor to high-performance NVIDIA processor. To perform this open the Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > Set Preferred graphics processor to High-performance NVIDIA processor.
Now, launch the game and check if the error appears.
Fix 5: Update Windows
If you have not updated the operating system for a while, download and install the latest updates. It will not just introduce new features, but may actually fix this problem.
Finally, if nothing has worked, there is no point complaining as the objective of beta is to find bugs like these. What you can do is report the problem to Ubisoft and they will provide a workaround and hopefully, when the game is released we will not see all these errors.
