Death Stranding released on PC yesterday and even with the few bugs, it’s the most bug free game we have encountered this year, among big titles. One of the rare errors players are encountering is the Death Stranding Dx12-ErrorCode: 0x887a0005. You may also encounter another error message in the background: An Access Violation (C0000005h) has occurred in thread ‘Worker 5’ at instruction location 00000001417C0806h (something similar to this) or An Access Violation (C0000005h) has occurred in thread ‘SystemFileDevice:1’ at instruction location 00000001416D4B37h.
Disabling the Nvidia DLSS in the graphics options then restarting the game has been the most effective fix for this error.
If you still continue to encounter the error, you must update the Windows to the latest build 2004. We know that the game requires DirectX 12, the new Windows has a better and improved version of the DX 12.
Also NVIDIA released a Game Ready Driver with support for Death Stranding, so you would want to update your driver to that.
If the error is still not fixed, it’s worth a shot to try and repair the game files. Steam provides a quick way to verify and repair game files. To perform the steps – launch Steam > Library > right-click Death Stranding > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
If the error still persists, a lot of users have reported to fix the problem by re-downloading the game. So, download the game again and install it. Before launching provide admin permission and set exclusion on your antivirus. Now launch the game and the error should have resolved.
The above steps should suffice to fix the Death Stranding Dx12-ErrorCode: 0x887a0005 and An Access Violation (C0000005h) error. We will update the post as we research more into the issue and come up with more effective solutions.
