Besides the main story in Cyberpunk 2077, there are numerous gigs or side jobs that provide rewards upon completion. One such side job is the “Killing in the Name,” but players who attempted to compete the gig soon discovered it was bugged preventing them from completing the mission. Even with the widespread report of the Cyberpunk 2077 “Killing in the Name” Bug, there has not been any acknowledgement from CD Projekt Red that we are aware of, which is unfortunate as there might not be a hot fix anytime soon. Fortunately through, there is a simple workaround that can resolve the hacking glitch in Cyberpunk 2077 and help you complete the mission.
Fix Cyberpunk 2077 “Killing in the Name” Bug – Hacking Glitch
In the side job “Killing in the Name”, you will reach a point where you have to hack the router of a building with Johnny close to it. However, when the player attempts to hack the screen either you cannot interact or there is no option available to input. If you just guess the combination, the first click says the hack is done, but results in nothing and the mission cannot be completed. So, this is the gist of the Cyberpunk 2077 “Killing in the Name” Bug where Hacking does not work.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, where the screen appears as below or you cannot interact with the router to hack, below are some solutions you can try.
One of the quickest way to resolve the bug is to load the save prior to starting the “Killing in the Name” side job. And when you start this time around, do not cut through conversations and the glitch might not surface.
If the above solutions does not work, follow this process to bypass the glitch or hack the router in the side job.
- Load the save prior to starting the side job.
- Equip an OS with hacking skill, you can opt with the default OS that you start the game with.
- Do the side job normally but to approach the hacking objective, go from ground level, climbing through the fire escape.
- You should now be able to hack.
Once you follow the above steps, you should be able to bypass the Cyberpunk 2077 “Killing in the Name” bug.
That’s all we have in this guide, we hope you found the post helpful. If you have another workaround, let us know in the comments.
