Another dev error guide. We have written so many of these that things are starting to become boring. Nevertheless, we understand the stiff you might be in when you encounter one of the errors. Today, this guide is about the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Warzone dev error 5757. Another DirectX error, but has little to do with reinstalling DirectX. As a gamer’s modus operandi, you must ensure that you graphics card drivers, audio drivers, and Windows is up-to-date. Doing this can potentially fix the problem and ensure your system is healthy.

Before we proceed with the fixes, it’s imperative you try certain things like playing the game with lower graphics settings, in resolutions such as 1080p or 720p. If you use a GPU tweak software, disable that as well. Try repairing the game using the client function of Steam or Battle.Net. If the error does not resolve yet, then let’s proceed with the below fixes.

Fix 1: Play the Game on Default Settings

A lot of users reported that playing the game in default settings allowed them to bypass all dev errors. And since millions of players of both Modern Warfare and Warzone have been playing the game without any issue, it confirms that there is certain things we do that causes the problem. One of them may be altering the game settings. So, try playing the game in default settings and hopefully the DirectX dev error 5757 resolves itself.

Fix 2: Disable Overlay and Other Applications

Prior to launching the game disable all third-party software that work in parallel with the game as a support software. The software includes but not limited to Razer Synapse, Discord, GeForce Experience, any Recording Software, ShadowPlay, etc.

You can disable the application from the Task Manager. Press Windows + X and select Task Manager from the list. Identify all the programs running and disable them one at a time by selecting them and clicking on End task.

Here are the steps to disable Discord overlay, Stream Overlay, and Xbox Game bar.

Disable Steam Overlay

  1. From the Steam client Home Screen, click on Steam
  2. Click on Settings and select the In-Game from the menu
  3. Uncheck Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game
  4. Click OK to save the changes.

Disable Discord Overlay

  1. Launch the Discord app and click on the gear icon at the bottom.
  2. Under App Settings, select Overlay
  3. Toggle on the Enable in-game overlay
  4. Click on the Games tab
  5. Select Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Warzone
  6. Toggle off the overlay.

Disable Xbox Game Bar

  1. Press Windows Key + I and select Gaming
  2. From the Game bar, toggle-off Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar

Now launch the game and check if the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Warzone Dev Error 5757 is fixed. If you want the steps to disable other overlays, simply comment and I will help you.

Fix 3: Run the Game and Launcher with Admin Permission

Go to the destination folder of Modern Warfare or Warzone and provide administrator permission. You have to do the same for the launcher you are using to play the game such as Battle.Net or Steam, whichever applies. The process is quite simple really. Just locate the .exe file or the respective program > right-click > Properties > Compatibility > check Run this program as an administrator.

If you would like help with this process, comment and I will provide the detailed steps. Now, launch the game and check if dev error 5757 is resolved.

Fix 4: Run the Game in Compatibility Mode

If all the above steps have failed, we need to run the game and launcher in compatibility mode Win 8. The process is similar to the above step with one slight difference. Locate the .exe of the game and launcher > right-click > Properties > Compatibility > check Run this program in compatibility mode for > select Windows 8 > Apply > OK.

Fix 5: Run the Modern Warfare in Windowed Mode

Finally, if nothing else has worked, you can try and play the game in Windowed mode. This fix has also worked for a lot of players. Although you lose the aesthetics from the gaming experience, it does get the game running without glitches. So, it’s worth the shot. Again, if you need the steps, you can comment.
