Fix Back 4 Blood Black Screen and Not Responding

After months of waiting, we finally get the chance to try Back 4 Blood, but there are certain issues with the game that’s perverting players from joining the experience. While Back 4 Blood is mostly bug-free, there are some players who face the Back 4 Blood black screen and not responding issues. While players on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S are mostly affected by the issue, there are some reports of the B4B black screen on PS5 and PS4 as well. If you have faced a problem with the game, there may be some things you can do to fix the issue.

Back 4 Blood Black Screen and Not Responding PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

One of the first things you should do is ensure that you have the latest update for the game. The latest update for the game is aimed at resolving crashing and black screen issues on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation. The developers have assured more stability updates to improve the experience of the game, so ensure that you have the latest update.

Another possible cause of the black screen on all devices is overheating. If your system is overheating, it can destabilize the system leading to Back 4 Blood not responding and a black screen. Ensure that console, as well as the PC, is well ventilated.

For players on PC, perform a clean boot and then launch the game. A clean boot environment ensures there is no background application that can prevent issues with the game. It also ensures that the game has all the required resources and no resource-hogging software is running in the background. Here are the steps you can follow.

  1. Press Windows Key + R and type msconfig, hit Enter
  2. Go to the Services tab
  3. Check Hide all Microsoft services
  4. Now, click Disable all
  5. Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager
  6. Disable one task at a time and restart the system.

If there is a problem with the game files such as missing files or corruption, it can lead to the black screen. It applies to both console users as well as PC. If you are on PC, verify and repair the game files. For users on the console, your only option is to reinstall the game.

Finally, ensure that you have the latest GPU driver. Nvidia recently released a driver update that has day-one support for B4B.

He is caught in a loop between writing about games and playing them. It's a vicious cycle. Although he's biased towards PC, you can occasionally find him on the PS5. He does not own an Xbox Consoles but plans on getting one soon.
