Hacking is a key component in Cyberpunk 2077 and while it might seem confusing at first, it becomes a mini-game to enjoy once you get the hang of it. There are several steps and layers that you need to crack to achieve the Quickhack known as Breach Protocol.
And we’ll explain it step by step. Stick around with the guide and we will show you how to solve hacking puzzles in Cyberpunk 2077.
How to Solve Hacking Puzzles in Cyberpunk 2077
Breach Protocol involves solving some puzzles after which you can upload Daemons (programs that jam the network for a specific period of time) onto a network. You basically use Breach Protocol either to target enemy network, crack a server for cash and loot and decode encrypted shards amongst other things.
With a high intelligence attribute, you can use your skills to access servers all around Night City. Your Cyberdeck will have a default Quickhack, Breach Protocol. With which you will be able to scan people, robots, etc, and overheat or deactivate them with Quickhack.
How Breach Protocol Works
When you open Breach Protocol you will enter a minigame where you can note the following things:
- Breach Time Remaining – On the top left you will have a timer that will start running once you interact with the Code Matrix below it.
- Code Matrix – The alphanumeric grid below Timer.
- Buffer – This is the rectangular box you see in the center of the screen. This tells you the maximum number of characters you can use (basically how many moves you have to solve the puzzle). These slots are fixed but can upgrade your Cyberdeck for more slots.
- Sequence Required To Upload – Below Buffer, you will see the tab which has the list of Daemons you have to upload. So the code you see on this screen you will have to imitate from the Code Matrix screen within the moves allowed in the Buffer.
In the Breach Protocol puzzle, you have to select the first character in the horizontal line of the grid and then check for overlapping characters in the same vertical line of the grid. So you will have to chalk out your moves to choose snippets in the same horizontal and vertical lines. Remember you have to form a path of string while placing your moves.
Cyberpunk is a technically advanced game where hacking is a core element. Gamers might have observed similar activities to perform in other games like Watch Dogs as well.
