CS:GO Ranking System Explained
Ranking in CS:GO shows other players how good you are at the game. Here we will take a look at all the ranks and how to attain them in CS:GO.
Playing the game frequently will help you rank up, and there are 40 ranking levels to attain. Once you reach a rank, you can claim some free rewards like cosmetic items and medals. These medals will change color every time you cycle through level 40.

For beginners, you need to reach rank 2 first before you can start claiming your rank in competitive matchmaking. You can reach rank 2 by playing any of the game modes available in CS:GO to unlock Competitive Matchmaking. Once you have unlocked Competitive Matchmaking, you need to win 10 matches to get a rank. But there is a catch, and that is you can only claim 2 wins per day and not 10 in one go. So technically it will take you 5 days to reach a rank and then you will be placed in a skill group.
There are 18 ranks in total, starting from Silver 1 for the lowest ranking players, all the way to Global Elite. Below are all the ranks available to claim in CS:GO.
- Silver I
- Silver II
- Silver III
- Silver IV

When you start playing in Competitive Matchmaking, you will be matched with players who are five ranks lower or higher. You will be playing as a team, and each time your team wins, your rank will be adjusted.
