Rumors about the latest Call of Duty are everywhere. Fans have started speculating about the second entry into the Modern Warfare rebooted series ever since 2021, even before Call of Duty: Vanguard hit the shelves. These rumors are particularly starting to shape now as Activision is confirming more and more info about Call of Duty 2022.
In a recent artwork reveal trailer released just before the day Vanguard gets the Season 3 Reloaded update, the developers have confirmed a lot of details. Modern Warfare 2019 ended with a solid hook as Captain Price and Laswell sat down and finalized Task Force 141 and its members. Modern Warfare II will feature all of the members of the task force formed at the end of the 2019 Call of Duty.
The new task force includes members like Captain John Price, who will supposedly lead the team, Simon “Ghost” Riley, John “Soap” Mactavish, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, and Colonel Alejandro Vargas.
Among these characters, long-term fans are already acquainted with Price, Gaz, and Soap. Captain Price and Call of Duty are synchronous. Soap has been the main character of the original Modern Warfare Trilogy, and Ghost had his own game in 2013. Gaz was introduced in Modern Warfare 2019. The game even includes a few levels in which players play as him.
But, Alejandro Vargas is a completely new character who will be introduced in Modern Warfare II (2022). He is a Mexican Special Forces member.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (2022) will reportedly have connections to the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009. While the two will feature the same villains, like General Shepherd, remains unknown. We know that General Shepherd exists in the rebooted universe too, as he was mentioned once during Modern Warfare 2019. But, we need more information to be able to confirm any of these speculations.
