Astel is located in Grand Cloister in the Lake of Rot region. If you reach the southern section of the Lake of Rot region, you will find a waterfall that has some stairs that you can take. There is a Site of Grace at the entrance and beyond that a river of Scarlet Rot. Keep to your left and you will soon reach a coffin. Get inside it and it will take you to Astel’s secret arena.
Astel is a malformed star with a scorpion build that landed in the Lands Between a very long time ago. It has a wide list of ranged attacks that involve its whip-like tail.
- It will use its tail to strike at you, and no matter where you are it will reach you. You will have to wait at the right time to dodge it.
- It can shoot some sort of beam at you, and you just have to repeat the same technique as before and dodge before it hits you.
- If you are fighting it up close, keep an eye for when you see any sort of glowing orbs appearing around it, as this can wound you too.
- When it summons a black hole, keep running away or else it will teleport near you and bite you.
- Use Mimic Tear Spirit or summon an ally to help you out
- Its head is the weakest point so keep aiming for it
- Use any light-handed weapon instead of something that will take time to swing
- Watch out for its glowing hand as it will take a swipe at you
- Once its health is down to 50%, it will start beaming meteor showers at you. Dodge these at all costs and attack it between that times.
- Ranged and magic users should create as many headshots to bring it down.
- Keep your Sacred Flask with you at all time
It might take some time and many tries to bring Astel down, but it is not impossible. As a reward, you will get 80,000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Natural Born, which you can exchange with Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold. There is also a secret area beyond Astel that will lead you to the Moonlight Altar if you have the Darkmoon Ring.
