Fast Travel in Early Game
You can actually fast-travel from the beginning of the game by zooming into the Pokemon Centers and Towers. This is not obvious from the start, but landmarks with a Feather icon can also be teleported to. In fact, you can do this right after the tutorial of the Starter Pokemon, once you have visited some new places.
Finding Eggs at Picnics
When you set up the picnic table in the game, sometimes you will find a Pokemon Egg. This happens when you have two Pokemons on your team which are the same egg type.
Custom Profile Photos
Teammates can see your profile picture when you are playing multiplayer, so you might want to customize it. You can do so by taking a selfie in the game and pressing X to go to the profile menu to set it up.
Free Mystery Gift
In the news tab, you will sometimes get a mystery gift. All you need to do is to select the Poke Portal section, set up your internet connection, and pick the internet Mystery Gift.
Change Nickname Later
You can change the nickname of your Pokemon immediately after catching it, but you can always do so later. It’s quicker if you do it in batches as well. Open your Pokemon storage and take a look at the Pokemon’s summary page for the option to rename it.
Pokedex Rewards
Filling out your Pokedex will give you lots of great rewards, which you can check out by pressing X on the Pokedex menu. There is a variety of items to win, running from rare evolution materials to XP candies.
Pokemon Dolls
If you are getting knocked out easily with ambushes from wild Pokemon, there is something in the store that might help you – Pokemon Dolls. Use them to evade the powerful wild Pokemon that you can’t fight in the early game.
